This intermediate workshop is designed to teach you printing with 2 colour layers by carving two coordinating linoleum plates. It is ideal for students who have already attended a beginner's workshop and want to take their skills to the next level, but as long as you have had some linocut experience and can carve with relative ease, speed and accuracy you will be able to take part - especially if you like a bit of challenge!

In this workshop, you will be guided through all the stages of making a multiblock print, from designing, planning layers, making a registration system, carving 2 plates and experimenting with inking techniques to create different effects.  


All course materials are provided. You will be working with traditional art linoleum, professional carving tools and oil-based inks, a Victorian cast-iron printing press and modern lever-type presses. Vintage books and illustrations are provided for your inspiration, but you can also bring your own sketches and designs to work from (simple 2-colour drawings are best for this purpose) You will take home your carved linoleum blocks and all the prints you make on the day.  

I will provide tea, freshly brewed coffee and biscuits throughout the workshop. 

Please bring a packed lunch, and also an apron to protect your clothes from ink.
